I was at my cabin in Huntingdon County for 3 weeks from Bear season till the 2nd friday of rifle. A buddy comes back up the 2nd friday with his 2 sons, one in high school and the other in his first year of college. Neither boy has had much hunting in his life but they do enjoy their trip each year. I was leaving as they arrived and wished them the best. They went to my stand later in the afternoon. I had spent many hours there seeing deer, a couple bucks, one shooter that got by too fast, but I didn't shoot any. My stand is luxury. I spent almost 45 years in all kinds of weather and finally built an enclosed stand. Anyway the guys got there and the older boy said he wanted to sit outside to see what it was like. Good for him. Right before dark a high racked 8 point walked out and he killed it. I was so happy he killed his first deer and I played a small part. I'm not going to lie I was wondering where that deer was for 2 weeks, lol

I enjoy it when our guest are successful. Several guest have shot deer, pheasants. One guest even shot a woodcock a few years ago and since we had the camp 6 years ago I haven't got one yet. The old adage that it is better to give than receive is true in this case.

Sounds sweet-sweet to me. Maybe cemented a new hunter to join our ranks. I would have asked to have my picture taken with him and his buck and I would hang it up. It would be a great memory for all of you.
