Are you trying to expand an existing area of aspen? Are you trying to re-vitalize an existing area? Or is this an entirely new planting?
It's easy to get a crop of new aspen by clearcutting existing aspens. You will have hundreds of saplings replacing a mature aspen in that situation.

No. I just have a couple of small trees I thought I could make cuttings from.

But I am not sure if aspen will root from stem cuttings. Can find info on the web that says they can and others that say only root sprouts
