Hodgdon Varget is my favorite powder for the .308 with 150 or 165 grain pills. Perhaps a premium bullet for the hogs? Deer aren't fussy bout what puts a hole in em.

First of all i am no expert but i have worked for years with the 308 Winchester.
The 150 grain bullet is a good choice for deer. You have to try a few different brands to see which one your gun likes.
I do like the 165 grain bullets also but the same thing applies to finding the one your gun likes? To hunt Bore i think i would go for the 165 grain in a regular type bullet.
Premium bullets are to costly to try to find a good load from scratch,IMHO.
Powder i have had the best results with IMR-4064 and my second choice would be Varget.
Primer brand choice comes in to this also as does brand of brass.
What works for me and the guns i load for may very well not be near what yours may like?

I load 42 grains of Hodgdon 4895 for a 168g Barnes TTSX. I like the all copper bullets because lead is toxic to scavengers. You are supposed to bury the entrails so the critters cant eat them and get lead poisoning...Nobody bothers to do so anymore! I saw a video that the dude had a deer x-rayed and found lead 14" from the wound channel. He got it made into burger an x-rayed 20 - 1lb tubes of burger and there was lead all through it!
The copper bullets open wider and more reliably at higher speeds, so I'm thinking I'm going to drop to 150 grain next year. Don't know about boars though.

Anything inside 350-400 yards I like 180 gr. Speer Grand Slams over a dose of W-748

You get GOBS of penetration..................eat right up to two BIG holes, one in and one out................shoots good and flat to any reasonable distance.

Pigs aint all that. You dont need a premium bullet, just the same cup and core that is designed for med game. Sierra game kings have been my go to for most rifles, but std Hornaday work just fine. Step up to the 165 and it will do everything you could want to.
