I'm using a knoxx red dagger. And I can't complain about it except when focused all the way in the beam is square.... Not an issue really it just took some getting used to.

I've yet to "burn" a fox with it and with a rigged up halo shield it has worked very well for me this season

Depends how cheap you're talking. Tractor Supply has their own branded Jobsmart lites for $25 and down depending what you're looking at - Jobsmart brand. Made in China like everything else. Work ok for me around the house, etc. Some fairly potent lumens on some models. No red LED's that I've seen, but I plan on using Red Dykem on one to try it out. Plenty of guys using Chinese lites off of ebay, tec. too. I do believe things like switches, etc are going to be much better quality on something like Niteyes products, etc., and therefore last longer. And there is prob no customer service on a lot of the Chinese stuff. JMHO.

hate to say it, but the words CHEAP and BEST, don't ever work together!
its either one or the other
a CHEAP light and a better quality will be separated by Price, just how it works!

as for Nighteye's being the BEST light?
I don't agree
yes there fine lights, but there are better out there!

buying a GOOD light is an investment in the game, as they say, have to pay to play
cheaper to buy a better light right at the start than a cheap one and then upgrade later, that costs MORE than buying better ONCE! buy once cry once LOL

Best cheap hunting light? Jerry rig whatever lights you have. Make them work. Then save save save. Don't expect a quality experience with half @%% equipment. Good lights was the single biggest thing I invested in to benefit my hunting.

The first light we ever had was a spot light with the red lens cover and we cut the plug off it and actually wired it to a marine battery..had the battery on a cart and put a switch on the light...worked great...weighed a ton!! Like kd said your better off rigging something for now and buying a good light when you can afford it...you'll be happy you did,

I've used an older Q-beam with a red snap on lens. I bought both a green and red lens at Wal Mart. They weren't very expensive. I powered it with a jump box for a car. Easy to tote and most boxes come with a power plug outlet... E-Z P-Z!
