John S wasn't kidding when he said they're tasteless. I've added them in with mulberries and juneberries just for some extra color. Zero sweetness, zero tartness, uninteresting texture. Compare unflavored gelatin to strawberry jello and you get an idea of the difference between these and real wild(heck, domestic) strawberries.

Anyone know what this is? They were everywhere along the bike trail. I was heading to pick chantrelles and found these. Sorry its a cell pic. Almost looks like a small strawberry but its rounder. Squeezed it and clear liquid came out.
