The wife/myself & another middle aged couple are planning to head to Bedford for the big craft fair Oct 6-14th. A surprise Aniversary trip thing where us men will be moving from bench to bench...eating vendor food to keep up the energy for carrying female shopping treasures....Anyways, the hotel we stayed at last year is full so we need to find lodging for Saturday night the 13th. Wondered if anybody could give us a head's up on a nice B&B or decent hotel within an hour's drive of Bedford (North or East) ?
Tripadvisor has lots of listing but HPA'ers have really come through in the past with good tips!

go a little further east on 30 and you come to breezewood which has tons of standard motels.

between everett and breezewood, tucked back into the hills along the juniata you will find Camp Pumpgun, known for its brews, blues and bbq's.

Was born and raised 20 mins North of Bedford. I have heard alot of great things about the renewed Bedford Springs...maybe pumpgun can add to this since I have not personally been there. Altoona probably would have some nice motels and be about 30 minutes from Bedford I would guess.

the springs is really nice but be prepared to spend big $$ there.

altoona is a bit more than 30. breezewood is closer and has the same class motels, ramada, mom & pop, etc. nothing fancy for sure but basic sleeping quarters.

if you're on a budget and just looking for sleeping quarters, the Travelers Rest on rt 30 between everett and breezewood is adequate. again, basic sleeping quarters. i have some stories from there from back in the day that can't be told here.

If you are interested in a little more rustic location, you might give Barbara a call.. she is the owner of the Roadkill Cafe near Artemas. She has several cabins she rents..

The Roadkill is about 40 minutes from Bedford.
