So I recently purchased a 1998 ford ranger that needs a little work. There is surface rust starting on the rocker panels and the bottom of the doors and I want to do something about it before it gets to be a real problem. I am thinking about sanding all the rust off and then putting some sort of roll on bed liner on it like herculiner up to the door lines. Has anybody else done this or have an opinion on it?

I just did this to my Cherokee, sand it pretty good, wipe off with acetone, and paint. Looks pretty good I think, I used spray on liner in a rattle can though, duplicolor. I think it turned out good and will be easy to touch up. Also did the inside of the doors. If you use the spray can, make sure to keep the nozzle clean and after a minute of spraying shake the can up, does start to clump up.

I just sprayed my whole truck with raptor liner, it's good stuff. Make sure you get rid of all the rust first and spray any bare metal with self etching primer
