Not going to get into details on were I am at, however came up north to a higher beaver limit to trap beaver with a good friend of mine. Yesterday we got a heck of a good line out and was beat till the sun set. He had some sets out before I got there and had a good day of 4 beaver. Heading out to check our line now! Will up date later. Here is a few pictures of him from yesterday.

That was a nice haul. Did you guys get iced in the last two nights?
It’s amazing that with two weeks left in the season, there was still big beaver numbers to be had.
Saturday mornings check we had some ice. Extremely thin layer over most of our set. Thinking that if they were not caught semi early in the evening good chance we wouldn't get them on castor mounds. Sundays morning check was thick layer of slush and of course very cold. When we woke up, I figured if we caught a couple we would be lucky and we both figured they would be in 330's in runs or bank dens. How ever we caught them all on foot hold downers with caster.

We did some trapping on state gamelands, swamps right next to the road that property owner lets anyone trap and in these places we did not catch no crazy numbers. Most of the places we caught big numbers were pretty good hoof back in the woods and what I would call hidden swamps mostly. Most of the beaver barley see a person let alone have to worry about being trapped. Never saw one other person trapping and trust me when I saw we put the miles on. Start at 7-8am and not finish most of the time till 5ish pm. Great fun for sure, but I will admit I underestimated how much work we were going to have. Great time!! I see Ryan just became a member on HPA and it looks like he chimmed in. CountryCleatus is his Handle.

Exactly one hour to get to the I 80 exit.
It sorta doesn't surprise me Bigbrownie. I sorta agree with you, but sorta think there is alot of Beaver in some areas.
Pa. is big state with not a lot of interest in Beaver. Plus, most folks don't want to work that hard. You know that. It's hard work trapping and harder work trapping Beaver.
I'll add that LB12 & Ryan were running alot of traps. An effort most guys don't want to do. Not to mention the hours and hours skun', flesh'n & boarding after all day walking through weeds and brush and wading in water.
Around here, beaver are trapped extremely hard. A friend of mine that sells trapping supplies in the area always sells out of beaver gear. He tells me he gets a ton of calls and sales for beaver traps and lure. I never saw anyone trapping canines or coons, but bumped into three other guys trapping beaver. And I saw sign of other guys trapping also. Butler County has a high population of people and a low population of beaver. And much of the county is 2D, that limits you to 2 Conibears and 8 leg grip traps. Better get good at snaring, or you’re only getting 10 sets out. That’s why I’ve been trapping in 1A…to get away from the 20 beaver limit and trap restrictions.
