I learned of this last week but was waiting until the Authorities looked over the situation. Found dead in Greeley behind a line of houses in the vicinity of 505-513 Rowland Rd. The crossbow bolt with the field tip still sticking out of the lung area. Absolutely disgusting! Any information please contact the PAGC. This is in 3D Pike County. http://

Hope they catch the scum that did that. Not sure if huntingpa could do this but it would be nice if there was a reward program set up through sportsman to help entice people to turn in poachers. Kinda like the one crime stoppers does. Working with criminals everyday I have learned that people sing like a canary if it will benefit them in any way and that all criminals talk about there crimes to someone.

The bolt (with the field tip) is a good piece of evidence for the PGC to work with. The fact that a field tip was on the bolt makes me feel that maybe someone was practicing when the bear showed up...maybe a local. I'll bet that this will be solved....imo.

Stupid people DO EXIST.

I believe they caught the guy that poached a bear in Huntingdon county last year and if I recall correctly that was poached in a more rural area than behind a line of houses so hopefully they get this guy

The bear that was over 900 lbs and shot by a crossbow eating out of a restaurant dumpster in 3D ( Higher Elevations on RT 940) was never caught either.

It is stupid to just take shots at such magnificent animals and leave them die.
If they really feel the need to shoot a bear, do it the legal way, buy a license, hunt them in season and be proud of the harvest.

Hope they catch the guy but I wouldn't bet money on it.

If the guy was trying to kill the bear, why did he use a field point? Could it be someone trying to get rid of a bear that they considered a nuisance?

Or, like somebody said earlier, somebody was practicing in their backyard and it was a crime of oppurtunity.

That's a terrible waste of a lot of good bear meat.
