well its about time to smoke some bacon and starting to think of new rubs/brines. last time the basic wet turned out ham tasting bacon. the honey dry rub had a disaster during a wind storm so results were tainted. i got a new electic smoker now. im thinking of a whiskey flavored Brine, any suggestions or history with this? Im not too fond of bourbon bbq sauces and dips so im thinking so comfort or another whiskey or rum

Evan Williams makes an apple bourbon that makes incredible sauces and marinades for pork. I don't see why it would not make a great brine. I can attest thats its also awfully tasty to sip on while your cooking!

Along the lines of bacon, has anyone ever tried the bacon at Willie's Smokehouse in Harrisville (between Slippery Rock and Barkeyville)? Stuff is amazing.
