Men, I am kicking around the idea of placing an automated entry gate at our shop.
Thinking enter code on keypad and gate will open. Does anyone have any experience? Brand suggestions?

We just put one on one of our properties. There are gooseneck number key PaD and we also have remotes so the gate opens for our plows while they are still out on the roadway.
To get out there is a pressure PaD cut into the driveway that automatically opens by the vehicles weight. The gate we had installed opens 20ft wide and is chain driven.
They are not cheap if you need to have all the work installed by someone. Electrical cost alone was over 10k for a poll, load center and burial of conduct and wire for controls and pressure PaD. gate, motor, and install was another 18k.
Finished product and convenience was well worth the price.

That is where we are at. The convenience might cover the cost in just one year. Do you happen to remember the brand?

The company who makes the actual automated mechanism is Lift Master and the model we use was SL575.
We used a Fence Co to do the install of the gate, posts, rollers and we told him what operator and access controls to use, based on previous experiences we had using similar equipment on other campuses.
The key pads we used are blue back lit for easy night viewing and I also ordered remotes for inside our plow trucks.
It ended up being cheaper using our own electricians to put in the pole, load center and disconnect and run conduit and wire then to have the fence co do the job soup to nuts.
We have never had any issues over the years with this manufacturer and this is why we continue using them when we update facilities. Even in driving freezing snow they open smoothly every time. The unit also has built in safety features like electric eye and obstruction override and a buzzer when the gate is opening and closing.

Good Luck
