Did anyone catch this on Channel 11 on the 6 oclock news?

The guy that PennDOT contracts to pickup deer along the road in District 10 said he was unable to properly dispose of the deer because of his truck being broke down. He began piling them in his back yard. Neighbors were not happy.

I just read two other threads about this today during lunch.

I can sort of sympathize with his neighbors, but it is his land. I feel as long as you own the land you should be able to do what you want on it.
I'm not knockin the guy. Times are tough, he is just tryin to earn a buck
if his truck is broken down how does he get the deer to his yard ?

Ha !!! I was thinking the same thing. How does he pick them up if he doesn't have a means to get them ?

This is America. Just because you own the property doesn't mean you can do anything you want on it. Try operating a nuclear power plant? How about having 3 horses on your one acre lot zoned residential? There are nusance laws.

They need to fine the guy if the carcuses are not diposed of in 3 days (he must have a buddy with a truck?). If he doesn't move them they let a private dumping contractor move them and then charge him for the disposal. If he doesn't pay, lien the house for the fine/disposal/ and interest.

Dead deer smell.
Right this is America if you own the property you should be able to do anything you want on it.

I know in my neighborhood has ordinances against certain things and I am glad they do, otherwise my one neighbor would have a garbage dump in his yard.
I wondered if he picked em up why he didnt take them to the designated dump to begin with

yeah, this whole thing doesn't make sense. You can always rent another truck or dumpster.
This is why the gc should be held resonsible for all the road kills and they should pick them up!
You have got to be kidding! Why should the PGC be relegated to being garbage men? For far too many years the PGC picked up road kills and in some counties at certain times of the year that is about all they got done. Cleaning up the highways is the job of the twps, counties and PENNDOT. I guess they should also pick up dead cats, dogs possums, coons, skunks and various species of birds. Get real!
Phew !!! I thought you were losing your edge there for a second John.

My neighbor doesnt have a dump in his yard . He throws it over the fence for me to pick up.
I agree with doing what you want on your property within reason. Once it starts effecting others standard of living things need to be taken care of.

Some ordiances are just silly but a rotting stinking pile of dead deer is not silly

Wow. Those are some words of wisdom. LOL
Pen dot is now picking up RKD'S on all State Roads in the whole State. This is brand new as of Oct 16th. (I believe the date is correct)
You need to call and get a permit because the only way to be in legal possession of a deer is to legally har vest it or get a permit from the PGC to possess it, or have meat gifted to you from someone who lawfully took the deer. I agree, the clown who has them stacked up in his yard should have his head handed to him, he is not performing the service he is being paid for and his neighbors shouldn't have to tolerate the stench. He should loose his contract with PennDot.
it was on the news tonight that Penn Dot brought in a front loader an removed the pile of carcasses... they didnt say who paid for it or where they took them
