I've heard guys talk about areas in 5c where rifle is allowed. everything I've read says that is not the case but I thought maybe I might be overlooking something. if anyone knows about these areas and of any gamelands in that area I would greatly appreciate any info. like I said I read the book so please no smart remarks about reading my handbook, i'm not an idiot.thanks

Much of French Creek State Park is in Berks and huntable. Lake Ontelaunee is another place. Blue Marsh is 5b. SGL 52 is probably the closest to you. It is near Maple Grove raceway off of Rt 10. Plenty of thick cover, deer and hunters there.

You CANNOT use a rifle in all of Berks. You can use it in the portions of Berks that are in WMU 5C, which is more or less about half the county. You can use a rifle in all of the areas of Berks that are in 5C, yes. Unless there was a reg change, PA-61 is roughly the western boundary on 5C, until you get up to I-78, and then it jogs around a little bit. Flintlock/late archery season also runs later in 5C now, too, but again, only in 5C, not the entire county of Berks.

My mistake, I somehow thought the discussion was about the late antlerless season ONLY....don't know where I got that idea, but that is where my last post came from....sorry for the confusion.

Aer you talking about the extended antlerless firearms in 5C? As far as I know, Berks County including 5C is not special regulations as far as firearms are concerned. There are places such as the 420 acre park on Monocacy Hill in Douglassville that is shotgun/muzzleloader only. Unless posted by a local municipality, all of Berks county is open to firearms.

I checked with the PGC because land I have access to is near the 5B-5C boundary. The officer told me in Berks County 5B is west of 222 and 5C is east of 222. Hope this helps.
