April Trout Vids (new video added)

Had a march vid thread figured I would do an april one as well. First video is all stocked trout from the 2nd day. The 1 fish wasnt hooked by both like we thought, my line just got tangled somehow.

2nd vid starts out with some wild trout, then went and fished for stocked trout later that day. All trout were released for others to catch.

Nice videos.
Re: April Trout Vids

thanks quack. Really aint a pro when it comes to editing videos. Just like to share the days events.
Re: April Trout Vids

Nice videos, are you using a GoPro cam? I have an earlier version of the Hero HD but the quality is not so good
Re: April Trout Vids

yeah I use a go pro hero hd with the head strap so I can wear it as I fish. Also at times use the go pole for doing underwater action at the streams, Aint got to do that yet this year though. Water has been really high and murky.

I agree the quality aint the best with them, Mainly when it goes from bright sun to lower light situations. But hey its tiny, easy to wear, and water proof as well. I just take it along for fun and really enjoy capturing the days events
Re: April Trout Vids

I think the quality in your videos is better than anything I've ever achieved with that camera. I've seen the Go Pole, I have a golf ball grabber that I want to attach a bracket or bolt on to secure the camera for underwater shots.

Did you upgrade with a different lens attachment to eliminate the fish eye? I still haven't but I think I will.

And what software are you using, I had some freeware that would edit quicktime videos but windows movie maker won't handle them, and the freeware is only trial software and runs out, I was thinking of purchasing Sony Vegas.

THANKS
Re: April Trout Vids

I still have the regular lens on mine. but have also thought about switching it. But every company I talked to said it was mainly for underwater, And I like to do both.

I also carry a spare battery with me and run a 32gb sd card. I like to film the hits so what I end up doing is recording the whole time. If no fish after abit I stop that vid and start another one. Then after I catch 1 I stop the video and restart another 1. That way when I go to edit the video I know the fish caught is at the end. And I only have to do a video split to cut out the time with nothing. with a spare battery and a 32gb sd card I can do this for alittle over 4 hours.

I use windows live movie maker for editing the vids, Its free and works decent, but I think I will look into another program thats alittle better down the line. With the way i film all the action its a simple split and resave for each video thats captured.

Re: April Trout Vids

Henry I used a pole for awhile too before I noticed it being able to retract smaller would be nice. What I did was buy the handle bar mount. Used for mounting to bikes and thats how I attached it to a pole. Worked really well too.
Re: April Trout Vids

I downloaded Windows Live Video Maker and got some annoying software bug installed
does it work with .mov or mp4 or quicktime videos?

I found the handlebar mount, looks good, thanks again

Videos I did today. Was fishing on the Nescopeck Creek in Luzerne County. I have a Contour camera, but the one used for this video is a cheap, Midland XTC-200 wearable camera. It is light enough to wear on the bill of my hat.

Re: April Trout Vids

thats really cool that its small enough to fit on the bill of your hat. If they could somehow make one that small that still would do HD that would be awesome.

I'm just spoiled with HD these days. watching stuff in 480p kills me lol
Re: April Trout Vids

It captures video in 720p HD. They do make ones that capture in 1080p HD. But the 720 works okay.

I have a Contour that records in much better quality, but its a little too heavy to wear on a hat. I normally mount it on my rifle during training or instructor schools.

Really neat vids Troutime! I was fishing the Stonycreek River on the first day and was pretty much unfishable. Looks like where you fished at was just an incredible day and you caught some nice fish as well!

Re: April Trout Vids

These portable cameras are handy, yes they can shoot in HD but when it comes to the lens Canon and Olympus have them beat hands down. I'll bet it's only a matter of time before these companies get involved in the mini mountable cam business, probably be quite pricey but worth the extra bucks.
Re: April Trout Vids

Just got some nice footage today so will we starting a may thread I guess lol.

I agree while the HD is nice, And so cool you can wear it around and take video the lens is for sure lacking. I find direct sun, or fading light really hurt the quality.

I hear the go pro hero 3 black edition is supposed to be alot better and has a glass lens unlike past models with the plastic. If someone ever comes out with one the size of a gopro but the quality of a caono or olympus Id be for sure interested even if it cost more money
