The appeal of the ESOS was that everything and everyone was there - all under one roof. Anything you wanted to do in the outdoors could be investigated, learned about, supplied, or arranged to be tried at the show.
One stop everything for the very serious to the very novice person.
Since before 1955 when Reed bought the rights to the show, sportsmen have convened on Harrisburg about the same time each year.In one politically correct decision, Reed decided to drive a stake into the heart of that camaraderie and long term history of the show.
In short, Reed has killed the appeal of this show - now, and long into the future if it survives at all.
