Now that I have a smooth bore flintlock, the thought has crossed my mind as to whether or not I should try it out on deer. I have two flint rifles, so really don't have a need to use the smoothie for other than its intended purpose as a shotgun. I may try it one day though. Just wondering if anyone here uses a smoothie for deer?

yes, since about 1990. have shot deer with it almost every year. its been a great gun, but will retire it from the deer woods this year when I get the new rifle done. it will become my small game shotgun all the time.

Had a TC 56 smooth a couple years ago.Tried a patched .550 RB and loading like any other muzzy I have with rifling.Gave 5" groups.
Found my tightest groups came from a load with powder, over powder card, felt wad, bare ball, and over shot card.Gave about 2-3"groups at 50yds.

I've used and switch between the rifle and my smooth (barrel) rifle. I also use the smooth rifle for small game. It's a .54 cal/28ga. It freaks my pals when I get rabbits, squirrels, pheasants etc. with it. Tickles me though.
