Anyone know of any shoots on the eastern side of the state coming up?

Now that the extended seasons are done and deer season is fully and officially over, I'm thinking of some things to do until it's time to get outsmarted by a turkey again. ;)

no shoots planned, but will be shooting at home. i have a lot of steel out to 100 yards and in the process of extending out to 150 yards. I need to get the .36 cal done and start shooting it and getting ready for woodchucks. spring will be here before we know it. there is always squirrel hunting left and steelhead fishing is knocking on the door, then trout season. I need to quit working to free up some time! maybe get on welfare? HA HA!!

The Tomahawks muzzleloader club in southern York county has a woods walk match the 3rd Sunday every month (April is on the 4th Sunday this year because of Easter).

Range opens at 10:00 for warm up and paper targets, woods walk starts at 11:00

tdd, I was thinking the same thing. I checked the calendar of a local club here but did not see anything listed. I'll at least be getting out to the range whenever I can. Still have some tinkering to do on the .50 cal. and have not shot the .54 in two years. May find something else fairly close

Gus, would it be possible to come and just watch a shoot and check the place out?

yes, matches are open to visitors, you don't have to be a member to shoot or walk along. But bring your rifle or smoothbore, you will have more fun.

this club is pretty informal and not cutthroat competition, if you have never shot a woods walk it would be a good place to try one. Very similar to an archery 3-D course, but the targets will be swinging metal targets or novelty targets.

When you guys go to Lewisburg, stop by the Pa Federation table and join. You'll get a booklet listing every federation club and shoot that takes place in 2017. You don't have to belong to any club to shoot. Being a member of the federation is required to participate in the State Shoot held every August. No pre qualification required for the State Shoot.......just sign in and buy the targets for the matches you desire. Sub junior, junior, women, and adult matches.

The booklet will give info on where and locations to qualify for the State flintlock team also if anyone is inclined. The team competes with other states.

Thanks Rusty. I talked to one of the Club Officers that comes to my office fairly regular, he said he thought they had started the woods walks again, but they did not show up on the calendar I checked. Yours is a different one.

I did not see anything in the newsletter either. I still get it even though I have not been a member for the last few years (can't afford the dues anymore for both I and the wife to shoot there and was told they are going up again. plus last time my wife was with me at the BP range, had a guy tell us they make spouses pay full price too to help keep the women/wives out. Turned the wife, who likes to shoot and is a former military cop, right off as she was standing right there. I then politely turned down his offer for me to join them at their BP shoots after he told us that. quit the club and joined another where spouse is included free with membership)

I was told you did not need to be a member to shoot the WW's, so may check it out too
