If I catch a coyote with my "one" trap and I then set this Trap for Bobcat, Is there anything I need to do to the Trap as far as the coyote scent? Once again, this is probably stupid question. Once again, newbie Trapper here. Thanks for putting up with all my questions!!

Sorry. Guess u were a fricken expert on everything. Now u got me acting like the person I AM NOT!! GLAD U DIDN'T NEED ANYONE TO TEACH U HOW TO SHOOT A RIFLE, TO TRACK AN ANIMAL, HOW TO IDENTIFY A TRACK. The only person I know that fits that bill is The LORD. By the words u used on your response, u are far from that!!!! believe the MODS need to look into ur response. This section is for people to ask questions about trapping. Don't like it, find another forum that would put up with ur ignorance. To everyone else, I'm a really nice person.

Set it back in the same "coyoted up" spot.
Hunterknapp16, sorry about my previous comment to the other guy. I served this Country for 20 years. I appreciate your answer. One trap for now to see if I get into trapping. Once again, I apologize for my previous comments to everyone on this forum, except for who they were meant for.

Sending you a PM. I wouldn't be to worry about scent control if specifically want a cat. They're not too picky. A lot of cats are caught in exposed traps with no covering which would held keep canines out .

Lighten up, your response tells a good bit by it's self. Here's the only reason I've become suspicious of some of your post. QUIT TELLING EVERYONE YOU ONLY HAVE ONE TRAP!!!! Why anyone would repeatedly say that is beyond me? My son and I have a gut load but unless someone ask me I don't say anything about it. (who cares how many you have)

How would anyone think they could learn anything by setting one trap? I run around a 100 myself and trust me there's a large part of this K9 trapping thing I don't know. Constantly mentioning that you only have one trap, makes me question your motives. What kind of traps do you want? I've got everything from a bear trap to a mouse trap. I'll pay the shipping both ways so you can use them a while so you can decide whether or not you're gonna like it long term. If you set 10 traps you just cut 10 years off your learning curve....

I think you just made a buddy. LOL

He is very much correct though in needing to set multiple traps if you want to learn anything, and even then you are going to be left scratching your head when you continually walk up to empty traps, flipped traps, and pooped on traps.

I'm not going to send you any traps, but I'll offer this. By 2 dozen Bridger #2s for this season and it will cost you around $250. If you decide trapping is not for you, then you could easily sell those used traps for $225 in a few days. Traps hold their value very well, and upper end traps have done nothing but increase in value over the years.

If you bought 2 dozen MB550s for $400 today, you could sell them for a small profit in a few years. They increase by about $5/yr/doz.

Bobcat1, I suggest you sell your one foothold trap and purchase a Bobcat cage trap (a cage trap designed for Bobcat).

With a cage trap-
you can easily release non-target animals
release small Bobcats easily and unharmed
Keep cage trap working in extreme weather
Be selective on which Bobcat to tag
You can be a one trap wonder
My best to you this season.

I am through with this post. I have met and received a lot of help on this Forum from great people. I will say this for the last time and this post is over: My thought at the beginning was to do this right in regards to the animals. I will be trapping by myself. Did not want to have multiple, if possible, Bobcats in several traps and not know how to properly release them alone. I have more traps. I now know how to do this. Like I said, I have received lots of good info through PM'S. Don't like what I post, move on!! The wording under this forum states, help the newbie out. Not put the newbie down. We were all at the beginning stages of Trapping once. Someone took you under there wing and showed you the ropes. The problem is, some of you have forgot that. I have been Hunting for 46 years. I help young people just getting into Hunting. My wife never hunted when I met her. After 1 year with me she shot a Deer, a Turkey, ducks, etc., etc. This would not have happened unless I taught her how. Good luck to you all. Take a minute today and think back to the first time you wanted to start Trapping.
GOD Bless
