I read this today and found it to be very well written. The author has his facts correct, and his knowledge of firearms is spot on. Pass it on to those who may be 'on the fence' on the issue of gun control. Use what the author says to bolster your own knowledge and opinion on the issue. We, as responsible gun owners, need to be able to speak intelligently to those who are not gun owners. We need to be good sources of accurate information and be seen as a group of people that will debate/argue with logic, reason, and common sense. While that tactic may not work with diehard gun control activists who don't use a whole lot of logic or common sense, it will work with those who might be on the fence.
At any rate, here is the link. Enjoy.

Re: An Opinion on Gun Control A MUST READ

I revised the titled of this tread to A MUST READ

Seriously, This single article is a great source of those talking points and statistics that I have been talking about.

Read every word of this LONG article. It is instructive in how to discuss the issues - all of them.

It is long, but the guy does have a sense of humor:

So many defensive gun uses never get tracked as such. From personal experience, I have pulled a gun exactly one time in my entire life. I was legally justified and the bad guy stopped, put his gun away, and left. (15 years later the same son of a [censored] would end up murdering a local sheriff’s deputy). My defensive gun use was never recorded anywhere as far as I know. My wife has pulled a gun twice in her life. Once on somebody who was acting very rapey who suddenly found a better place to be when she stuck a Ruger in his face, and again many years later on a German Shepherd which was attacking my one year old son. (amazingly enough a dog can recognize a 9mm coming out of a fanny pack and run for its life, go figure) No police report at all on the second one, and I don’t believe the first one ever turned up as any sort of defensive use statistic, all because no shots were fired

Re: An Opinion on Gun Control A MUST READ

I agree! Great article, and a must read for everyone, gun owners and non-gun owners!

This morning's Reading Eagle has this poll question: "Would you feel safer sending your child to a school that had armed security?" When I voted at 9:00 A.M., 210 people had voted. 64% voted YES!

For those doing the social media thing - this is a great link to post and get out there.

Thought provoking for sure, but will also get an alternate discussion going.

Information is key - providing that information is essential.

Hmmmmm, seems like a dandy idea adding your name to a list of folks that are in direct opposition to what the whitehouse wants. Where do I sign?

Or more basically - utilize the tools of mass information dissemination as the opposition does.

But if anyone wants to look at it as signing up to oppose the WH - works as well.

Here is another useful analysis (IMO)...

another article

Aggregated Statistics:

Let’s go through these numbers, because they are important. I hate the concept of reducing people’s lives to statistical figures for analysis, and that’s not what I’m doing. I’m looking at the truth of what happened to figure out what should be done, or at least to maybe help others decide what they think should be done.

How many massacres are listed? 21
Over how many years did they occur? 13
How many people were killed in total? 183 people (including the killers)
How many of them involved assault rifles? 1 (The AK-47)
In how many of the 21 locations was a civilian allowed to carry a weapon to defend themselves or others? (Two, potentially three depending on the legality of one particular location in question.)

This blog post had over 100k visits as of this morning. According to the author's twitter feed, that is. Hopefully his words (and others of the same ilk) are being passed around to gun owners and non gun owners alike.

The author's twitter acct is @monsterhunter45 (larry correia) for anyone interested in following him.

Thank you to the OP for this informative link as well as to NA Wreckdiver for posting his link. These are very helpful insights which bolster a lot of the points I've made to those with whom I've bandied crooks on this issue. Sadly, I know that even examining the issue by using plain statistical facts and figures will not dent every anti's blind armor; like my own brother who I fear may be a socialist.

Very well done. I've got this link bookmarked and it's going to most of the people I know. Many well meaning people are being inundated by the all out media blitz surrounding the Newtown event. A little common sense is needed here........

A great article and he definitely gave me some points to bring up when I get suckered into debates at the extremely liberal place I work. Posted to facebook also.

The bottom line is the left doesn't care about facts, reason or the 2nd Amendment. They will lie, cheat and violate the constitution in order to enact this bill. As factually correct and well written this article is, it's preaching to the choir. I appreciate his effort and agree that there are very many useful talking points (also known as facts), but the bottom line is that when the country elected the communist to his lame duck term in the presidency, our fate and the fate of the 2nd Amendment was sealed.

So you think they will be concerned with any of these? The agenda is complete removal of all personal firearms except for those wealthy enough to hire specialists to guard their backsides. Once the guns are gone, Constitution is but a piece of faded old paper.
