I just watched a story about a bill going through congress that would allow guns to be checked as baggage on trains. During the entire story hunters, who this would be very useful for, were never mentioned. They did mention that Amtrak security is very lax and anyone could walk on a train with a gun in a bag.
This country is becoming less rural and more urban everyday, and hunters are the ones losing a voice in the end.

I don't think AMTRAK even checks bags. Everything is carry on! This is because they currently prohibit firearms on their trains.

Interesting. So, a crook who is looking for an edge, would be wise to assault people disembarking from an Amtrak. How sweet is that? Take the train and increase your chance of robery, or worse, when you get to your destination!
