not one for writing long stories but i must say it was an emotional ride.....sunday came and went ,scouting and driving with little to see, sunday night into monday morning I couldnot sleep....the day finally arrived .I had found a good stand setup that showed some promise .before shooting light the first herd came through way too early .someone had scared them past us that was the only sighting for the day ,tuesday I sat alittle further away just in case it happened again, well it did they came through to early people are coming in and wherever they are walking in it is scaring them out,saw nothing else the rest of the day, wednesday I was hopeful with fewer hunters than monday maybe today there would be less and I was right nobody came in from the road this time and the elk were on time instead of pushed ,with the anouncement of his arrival with a loud bugle i watched and waited as they filtered through the pines down to my stand ,there was only one that gave me a clear line of sight to identify today she is going home with me .the shot was clean and on mark. now the flood of emotions to see a giant laying still .she will feed my family for a long time.special thanks to matt brewers dad ,his name escapes me for some reason but he came by when he did to find her for me ,I have a very hard time seeing blood in the grass she didnt go far but I couldnt find her and my brother hadnt got there yet. Congrats ,
having them walk past ya at a natural pace instead of being pushed by someone else makes it a little more special.
