It came through last evening with some pretty stong wind gusts.. It happened to wipe out one of our apple trees dating back to the late 1800's.. Shame...

1800s.....that's a good long life. Trees don't live forever and I'm going to say that one got the most out of life that it could ever hope for. From the looks of the trunk it was about due. Sorry you lost a specimen that old. They're becoming rare for obvious reasons.

Maybe you will get some morels around that spot next spring. Keep an eye out. They grow around dying apple trees.
