Is there such a thing? I usually wear a cap but I was rabbit hunting today and wore a tossle hat since it was a little colder. I hunt where there is a lot of berry bushes and new growth saplings. After the umpteenth time of picking my hat off the thorns a placing it back on my head I thought there has to be a better solution. What do you wear for a hat? Is there one you have found to be better at staying put? My orange cap gets knocked off more than I like too. I am thinking maybe glue, velcro, or possibly duct tape to keep it on my head.

I have a number of different hats for different types of hunting and different temperatures. But, I fully understand your complaint about brush and briars snatching your hat off your head, happens to me all the time. The problem I have is I perspire a lot, especially while small game hunting, so I tend to prefer a mesh hat to help keep me a little cooler. Then since the back of the hat is mesh it doesn't weight as much as the hat's visor and I have to keep repositioning the hat to keep it from shifting too far forward and down in front of my face more than I want. I like the visor when the sun is up and bright but sometimes if it is cloudy I turn the hat around so the visor is in the back just to solve that wanting to tilt forward problem.

I wear a sold non mesh hat while big game hunting but also have a balaclava style hat, that I attached orange panels on to make it legal, for big game hunting while I am sitting or it is real cold and/or windy.

I just pull the hood up when going in the thick stuff if I think of it. ( usually when the hat comes off the first time) I feel the pain. I have been using a ball type cap with a bombardier over the top for cold days and often lose the second cap when reaching to pick up the bombardier that was pulled off. Yes the chin strap broke so it helps me get that ab workout with the bend and reach. Waugh!

I just pull a Harrison Ford like he did on Raiders of the Lost Arc. Stable that orange hat to you melon. Don't use more the 1/2" staples because that can affect your ability to remove the hat at the end of the day.
