I could be completely wrong, but my thoughts immediately went to someone out sunbathing, took off their jewelry, emptied pockets and took in some rays. Got up and went back inside forgetting about them. I say this because it was one of the few spots on the property that would have seen sun due to the contour of the land and the location of the house. Who knows
