I have a 7600 30/06...Very nice gun, but took a back seat when I got my 35 Rem Marlin Lever. Just wish there was more time to spend with both in the woods. Maybe when I get that extra week of vacation next year.
I have a 7600 carbine in 30-06 with the syn stocks. I have the barrel magn-ported to reduce muzzle lift. Wears a Leupold 2-7x33 scope. It is my #1 go to rifle. Slick, fast, accurate, and knocks'em down. 1 bear and a handful of deer to that rifle.
Does not carry as nice as a peep sighted Winchester 1894 or does not have the craftsmanship as a pre-64 Winchester 70 or 88 or the brute power of a Marlin Guide in 45-70 with my handloads, but when the chips are down and I need an old friend by my side for a walk in the woods, the 7600 usually goes along.
These posts inspire me to ask all of you, that have these rifles, to take them to a range and fire a three shot group at 100 yards to disprove the 3" group myth, but that could be my only contributions as my eyes have gotten so bad I bet I can't do any better than that now. Use to shoot 3 shots touching on my 70 yard range with my 760 3006.
