Well since i cannot find a single box of the silvertip hollowpoints for my 45 colt anywhere i settled on the 250 gr Speer gold dot HPs for deer season. almost look like hydrashoks. Anyone have any experience with these on deer? Im gonna do some testing tonight, but actual kill reports would be awesome.

In 45 colt , no.
In 44mag ,yes. they were 270 grain golds dots.
Expands like crazy "as gold dots are designed to do"
Hence , penetration suffered.
The lighter 240xtps did better on penetration.
I'm from the school of , one hole in one hole out.

I have shot a few of them in MZ sabots. They did very well. For my 45 Colt rifle and revolvers I shoot cast bullets. However I have heard alot of good about those bullets in revolvers. I know they shoot very accurately in my 50 caliber. Good luck with them. Tom.
