On page 21 of the 2010-2011 Hunting & Trapping Digest, you will find the following: "Muzzleloading rifles and handguns .40 caliber or less", are legal for small game.
Oh, well. So much for that. I was hoping I could shoot a smaller ball with a larger patch out of my .45. I assume shooting a .40 out of a .45 still wouldn't meet the regs.(?)
For small game it isn't the projectile actually fired, it is the caliber of the rifle or handgun. For muzzleloading for big game there are minimum projectiles. Seems kind of inconsistent but that is the rule.
