After I showed my father my new Henry BB Steel 44mag he said how much he liked the gun. Well low and behold today he shows me his new Henry Case Colored 45-70 wearing a Leupold fxii 4x33. The gun is gorgoues. Actually nice enough that I'm putting the 30-30CC on layaway. Anyhow he had 2 boxes of rem 405gr ammo. We went to the range and he sighted it in. I was shocked at how little recoil that round produced. At 100 yards he was about 1.5 to 2 in. Is this 405gr round a cowboy load or is this actually considered a hunting load. I mean the recoil was not what I was expecting at all or the old man. Most of his shots from his stand are 100 yards max. Many way under. This round seems like the ticket. A far cry from his .222 that he has toted since I can remember. One extreme to the other I suppose.
