I am somwhat confused as to whether a slug is considered shot? I know you can use #4 buck and I have some, but i like the slugs in my old .410 bolt action mossberg, I carry this gun in the woods for squirels, and rabits... id like to carry a couple slugs so if i feel like blowing a mouth call then i have about 60yard range, my gun is very acurate it looks like a rifle. it shoots a 98 gr hollow slug at 2000 fps and i know it would work considering it is legal for deer.... so is a single slug legal or not? thanks

And i bet you would be suprised how well buckshot patterns I can put a solid 4 inch hole through plywood at 15 yards, with num 4 buck.

I don't think carrying the slugs or the buckshot while you are small gaming hunting would be legal.

+1 that would be correct.. not legal to be carrying buckshot while small game hunting
I'm sorry, I misread the post. I din't realize you meant you would be using it at the same time you were hunting small game. I forgot that some people hunt predators during the day.
Yea i guess not, i didnt really think about that... But still it is legal to shoot a fur bearer with a 410 slug? Its probably never going to happen because Iv got othe rifels such as a 204 or 22mag, but the book says no 4 buck or smaller "shot" and I was confused as to whether a slug was considered "shot" larger than #4B
Thats a good question for the law gurus on here. Where's john? He will know for sure
A slug would be considered single projectile, not "shot". It would be illegal to have slugs in your pocket while small game hunting though. There is a thread about this in the small game forum right now.
Thankyou
