I have a 1896 Krag that it was my grandfathers it is in very good condition but the stock was cut. I guess they call it sporterized. I just picked up a full uncut 1902 stock for $149.00, but the 1902 wont fit at the bolt handle area. Its to small. My question is, should I cut away the 1902 stock to make in fit, or keep looking for 1896 stock? I know the tatatoo wont match the gun but I'm look to try to bring it back to almost near original.
A gentleman gave me a heads up on a forearm stock, but I am exporing all ideas.
