The 250-3000 and roberts are great all round rifles. The 250 is plenty for PA deer, might not be as good as the 257 out west.
Both are better deer crtridges than the 243 as the .25 can shoot 120 grain bullets (I prefer the 117gr for deer).
The 243 is a better groundhog cartridge as it has better BC with lighter bullets.
The 250-3000 is a short action gun (like the 243) while the 257 should be on a long action.
In the 99 Savage with the brass rotary mag, the 250 is mighty fine.
