New to the 223/5.56 ammo scenario.

What were prices like when things were "normal" compared to now? Looking for a comparison so I know what a good deal is.

I used to get my .223 from Dunhams or Cabelas and was paying about $.25-$.27 per round for Herter's, Wolf, etc. I saw no reason to buy anything better since I was just wasting it downrange on targets, watermelons, pumpkins, etc. I'd love to find it for that price nowadays...

Near me trop use to have a good after shortage deal of 200 rounds bulk in a ammo can for 99. they now lowered the count to 180 for same price.

Prior to the shortage between .25 cent to .30 cent a around, sometimes a lot less in mass bulk.

2003-05 I was getting LC 62gr Green Tip cs/1000 195.00 delivered. And Wolf they dang near gave it away. July, 2005 Sportsman Guide Wolf 62gr FMJ cs/1000 $99.72 shipped to my door.

Cheaper than dirt has 20rds for 25 bucks. $1.25 a round when you narrow it down, that stinks. Thats .223 ammo, not 5.56 though.

you could go to walmart and buy decent plinking rounds for about 9 bucks for a box of 20.

Nov 2012 1k pmc 223 fmjbt was 349.99 at bulkammo.com, they had cheaper and more expensive brands. Feb 2013 they had only fed 223 1k was 999.99 but that was after almost 2 months of having none..

Cabelas had LC XM193 5 bx limit For 10 bucks today and Gander had it, 10 bx limit for $12.
