Is there much difference in noise between the 2...I'm about to order a new barrel for my t/c leaning toward the fireball. I hunt a lot of suburban areas just trying to stay as quiet as possible

I hunt with the .17 Fireball and my buddy the .22 Hornet. Both are fairly quiet unless you are in a spot near buildings where there is echo. Whichever has more powder will be louder. I load 17.8 grains in my fireball. Not sure how much powder goes into the .22 Hornet load but you could look it up at Hodgdon's web-site. Hope this helps.

The fireball is much much faster therefore it will be louder, my 204 is very loud for a small caliber.

I think I'm gonna go with the fireball...something to fill the gap between the 22mag and 223. I look at it this way, if someone has a problem with a gun going off in the middle of the night so be it I'm doing nothing wrong...its just getting old seems like a new housing development pops up once a month around here any more
