So, this was a round developed by PO Ackley, trying to break velocity records. His goal was 5,000 fps. It’s a .378 Weatherby Magnum, necked down to .224 caliber.



They say he only reached 4,600 fps but, with the slower powders of today, it could do way better. It was designed and tested in the 1960s.



Has any rifle nut brought this back out? Tried it with the more modern powders? Could be pretty interesting. I’d definitely watch YouTube videos of it blasting watermelons.
