Hey schrommer, Well its hunting season. My wife and I went hunting turkey on Nov. 4, lasted about one hour, came home with at least 10 pounds of sheephead. We had to use one of our orange vests to haul them out. Fresh mushroom with hardly any cleaning. Just last nite, nov 17 found 20 plus pounds of oyster mushrooms. Gave a lot away, and pressure canned 14 quarts. As far as deer hunting goes, not so good. Archery season, seen a couple scraggly 4 and 6 pointers. I did see a couple of bear, one actually i got on film was a cinnamon color black bear. I guess pretty scarce in Pa. Good luck to all

Thats it. The day we found the 10 lbs. of sheephead, I checked a deadfall with lots of clusters of these. The same tree provides us with plenty of stumpies,(honey mushroom) and also sulphur shelf. Not recognizing the shroom, I collected a couple for looking up. When home I placed them on paper to get a spore print. I canned the sheephead that nite. Next day I had dark purplish spore print for the unknowns. I got into something else and never followed up any farther. Wish I had now, that tree was loaded.

Bricktops are suppose to be choice. They are late Fall mushrooms so unlike the Sheephead they abundant in Penns Woods now. I have found them in cluster but I have never ingested them to date....I do think about it alot...Trying them....However when some of the Sulfur Turfs can be there too. I notice they, the Bricktops that I found look almost burnt.....The late fall impact on them...So I decided not to eat them just in case they late fall look might also caused the deadly poison Sulfur Turf to be in the group...
When you find Bricktops they are in large quantity too....
Watch for groups of them when your deer hunting this Fall. Weather permitting you can get some into the New Year, maybe?
