Ok. it's been awhile since I selected a specific Elk zone on my permit application. I always choose Any Zone..

Is there one zone better than the other.. Looking at the past harvest records all 14 zones harvested their bulls last year. since the rules say if your selected zone is full you'll be assigned the next available zone.. I'm be very happy just to be selected..

so.. for those who have hunted Bulls in Pa. in the past , what would be the top three zone choices tp pick ..

Thanks

My bull came from old unit 9, which was the south side of the Quahana Highway. At the time it was the largest unit. I had located at least 9 mature bulls in the weeks prior to my hunt. Liked that zone due to the remote locations, and most of the ground was open to hunting. There were several bulls that were absolute monsters in that unit, being recluse and remote made them tough to hunt. That has all changed now because I believe the unit is broken up into 2-3 other units though. Willing to bet there are still bulls in some of the locations I scouted, but finding then was always hit and miss.

Getting drawn is the biggest challenge, finding a hauntable bull will be the least of your worries.

My top 3 picks would be the zones in the south east part of the units. Because I know what was and is there..
