Dear Friends,

After much deliberation and conversation regarding Reed Exhibitions’ decision to ban Modern Sporting Rifles at the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show I announce my decision to pull out of the 2013 show.

<span style="font-weight: bold">As a member of the Board of Governors of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, I have been working, in good faith, with Reed to find a compromise to allow the show to continue at the caliber to which my fellow exhibitors, manufacturers and the more than 200,000 attendees have come to expect. After nearly a month of discussions, which concluded yesterday, I believe a compromise will not be reached. </span>

While I will greatly miss the opportunity to speak with everyone who faithfully visits our booth to see our new product displays, <span style="font-weight: bold">my decision to remove The Sportsman’s Shop, and our exhibiting partners,</span> from the show is based on my steadfast belief in the 2nd amendment and in doing what’s best for the industry, my business, my employees, my manufacturers and you, my valued customers.

In the meantime, The Sportsman’s Shop is stocked with many ”hard to get” products that we had obtained for the show. I invite you to come in and check our inventory.
Thank you for your patience, understanding and patronage.

Sincerely,

Joe Keffer

Go to this site and read all of this:

<span style="font-weight: bold">I also made a comment to Sebastian earlier today that something must have come to a head today or yesterday. To suddenly have Smith & Wesson and Ruger announce they won’t support the show, along with The Outdoor Channel suddenly no longer being listed as an event sponsor, and big groups like Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation dropping out, it was all quite a bit for one day. The statement from The Sportman’s Shop confirms that something big happened yesterday that was enough to send most of the industry fleeing without looking back.</span>

.........
Reed has successfully made the Eastern Sports & Outdoor Show a dirty brand name. For exhibitors, they have created the perception that they are unreliable and will not treat you fairly. For attendees, they are still promising celebrities and vendors they cannot deliver.

On Tuesday afternoon, The Sportsman's Shop in New Holland was the last major gun dealer from Lancaster County still scheduled to attend the Eastern Sports and Outdoor Show in Harrisburg.

On Tuesday evening, owner Joe Keffer pulled the plug.

"As a member of the Board of Governors of the National Shooting Sports Foundation, I have been working, in good faith, with Reed to find a compromise to allow the show to continue at the caliber to which my fellow exhibitors, manufacturers and the more than 200,000 attendees have come to expect," Keffer wrote on the store's Facebook page.

<span style="font-weight: bold">"After nearly a month of discussions, which concluded (Monday), I believe a compromise will not be reached."</span>

The Sportsman's Shop joins a growing list of nearly 200 exhibitors and celebrities who have backed out of the show, ..... since organizer Reed Exhibitions last week announced a ban prohibiting assault weapons and high-capacity ammunition magazines from being sold or even displayed at the show.....

The Sportsman's Shop was set to be the featured exhibitor of a popular section of the show called The Sportsman's Shop's Gun Alley, which included 14 firearms and accessories manufacturers.

According to Keffer, when he backed out of the show all 14 of those other exhibitors left with him. That list includes gunmakers Smith & Wesson, Thompson/Center, Ruger, Benelli, Franchi and Stoeger......

"As of (Monday) afternoon, as far as I was concerned, the door was slammed," he said.

Reed officials did not immediately return a reporter's phone calls for comment Tuesday.

Sportsmen of the Mid Atlantic States have been played for over a month...

Each and every advanced ticket sale was a sham. Reed had no intention of providing the bill of goods advertised.

Worse, they caused significant harm to their exhibitors by not forewarning them of the coming change. These exhibitors expended money, took out loans, or otherwise committed to purchases and time to build inventory for the historic high sales the show provided.

Not a lawyer, but I think those who bought advance tickets have a legimate stand to have their money refunded as the show is no where near what they advertised.

As well as vendors to file suit, as the show is no where near what they have promised and projected it to be.

This should make our political parties stand up and take notice. I am tired of the left such as President Obama and Cumo of New York using their executive powers to enforce their views into laws. Especially, when it comes to the 2nd amendment.
