I use 2 3/4 hand loads, no real advantage to 3". Just more cards(wad) for no reason.

2 3/4. A lot of guns shoot them better than the 3". But pick the one that shoots better in yours and you have your answer.

2 3/4" brenneke green lightning slugs. hang on, these things kick like a mule out of my 12 Gauge M-500

I use 3 inch mag. "original" BRI (Ballistic Research Industries) 445 gr. 50 cal. sabot slugs. I bought them about twenty years ago when sabots were not so common. I used them in the southern tier New York state. I still have quite a few left and they are accurate but sadly are no longer made.

I used the 3" remington solid coppers till I ran out and My local shop only had 2 3/4"s. Gun is printing better groups and has a LOT less recoil. It still pounds You though. I won't go back to 3" slugs EVER!!!

Haven't tried 2 3/4 in years. Currently shooting 3" Winchester sabot slugs 1400 FPS XRS123...getting 1 1/2 groups at 100 yds.

when i was young and liked the thunder i used 3" mags.
now i use a 2&3/4
