hi guys, i needed some help
i bought a 1973 6hp evinrude from a friend of mine. its in working order and in good shape. was looking at the service manual and says to use evinrude lubricant at a 50 to 1 ratio. if this lubricant isnt available what could i use to mix with the gas?

Any 2 cycle oil at 50 to 1. I prefer mecury 2 cycle oil but they are all pretty much good. The can will tell you how many ozs of oil for each gallon of gasoline. It is a pint of oil to 6 gals of gasoline, if you have a 6 gal tank, put in a pint of oil and fill it with gasoling, from then on if the tank isn't empty you will have to do some figuring. It is good to be exact, but it isn't necessary so long as you aren't really off in your mix.

Pretty much what John S said...while I prefer Pennzoil out board oil
. Any TCW-3 oil will be fine. a very handy unit to have is one of these...

For $4, you can't go wrong.

BTW, I had a 72' Johnson 6hp on my last boat, pretty much a bullet proof little engine...gave the boat to my dad, still runs like a top. If it still has that nylon prop on it, order an aluminum one...makes for a bad day when it breaks.
