Would anyone have a Hornady Load book that would send me the data for this bullet/powder combo?
I am running low on IMR-4895,but have a good amount of Varget and would like to try it with this powder!

Try the hodgedon reloading data center has all the loadings for their powders, i use it alot. Just go to hodgedons, imr or even winchesters powder sight and there will be a link to it

Aswallace911-I go there once in a while but all they listed was Nosler Bullets and i don't shoot them.
Farmerbrown- I like IMR 4064 also, but not in my 30-06s. My 308 Wins and 150 Gr.Sierra bullet shoot like match rifles.

I have IMR 4064 but my 06s didn't like it. They thrive on IMR 4895? Also i have a good supply of Varget and want to see how it will perform in an 06!

That's interesting. 51.5gr 4064 and a Hornady 150gr SP seated mid-cannelure has shot at least 1.5" at 100 in mulitple 30-06's, and some have gone a lot smaller.

I know folks have run Varget, but I think it's more frequently found used in shorter/faster rounds?

I haven't tried it.

This is where QuickLoad is invaluable...when you need to combine specific bullets and powders, and looks like that's what was posted above...QL data.

Love that software!

Willyp- I just looked at my Hornady manual. It is a bit older - the fourth edition - I don't know what edition they are on now. But my book does not even list varget for the .30-06.

I guess it's time to update my books like I've been meaning to. I had no idea they were on the ninth edition now. Maybe those books are older than I thought...

While it's not cheap, you can get QuickLoad software for about the same cost as 5 reloading manuals. And when you get QL and get familiar with it, you can combine pretty much any bullet and any powder for a given round and get useful data.

I have a dated version. I need to buy it (got a copy from somewhere, I'll leave it at that, lol) and renew it.

But yes. I am happy to help folks if I can, as I was helped a lot by people who have the software before I got access to it. Just don't ask me for over-pressure data, lol.
