Are you kidding me?????

INDIANAPOLIS — Baltimore Ravens GM Ozzie Newsome, who also serves on the NFL's competition committee, said the NFL is considering adding a rule for the 2014 season where players would be penalized for using the N-word on the field during games.

The committee will meet next week in Naples, Fla. to discuss whether or not to implement the rule, or some version of it. The early talk is that such an offense could be treated as an unsportsmanlike conduct foul, which would be assessed as a 15-yard penalty in the NFL.

"We did discuss it over the last three days," Newsome said. "We'll now go down to Naples starting next Friday and spend more time talking about it."

Deciding how to enforce the use of racial slurs during games could prove to be tricky. That's why Newsome said the proposed rule requires further investigation and study.

"With any rule that we put into play, we have to look at it from A to Z and find out what are the unintended consequences as much as the consequences," Newsome added. "But as it was stated in our meeting, there are mics everywhere. So, if something is being said, it's probably going to be captured somewhere. So, it would be an opportunity to get it verified if we had to."

Washington Redskins offensive tackle Trent Williams was accused of using the slur toward referee Roy Ellison, who was suspended one game for using a profanity in an on-field exchange between them.

Think Newsome better deal with his own player first, the Ray Rice incident sounds terrible, if true, he should be suspended indefinitely.

What if a black player calls someone a Honky, Cracker or some other racially-motivated slur? Same penalty?

Go look at what Peyton Hillis claimed was said to him by black players in every game. He was constantly called names and harassed, but did the media make a big deal about it? No.

There will be a penalty on every play. Or could be.

Now there is an openly gay player who should get drafted, SEC defensive player of the year. So homophobic slurs included?

Now how about religion? Are there Jewish, Hindu, or Islamic players in the NFL?

NFL wants a rule when a segment of the ethnic group thinks the name of the Washington, D.C. franchise is racist?

How about if someone calls someone's mother or sister a derogatory term, aka a garden implement used to till the soil? What about other annotomical references?

Just because Ritchie Incognito and some other players (of a minority, or parital minority race) called another player homophobic and ethnic slurs, now we gotta have yet another rule. It's like Big Government is now running the NFL. Common sense, professionalism, and manners have to be legislated.

How about all these allegedly grown men, "professionals", stop acting like [censored]?

Or, if you put in a rule, forget 15 yards. How about six games suspension if it is indeed so hurtful?

If a guy does crack, he's hurting himself. When they yap their mouths, they are hurting others, so suspend them more than if they did crack. Are not drugs four weeks off? Then make using any of those kinds of slurs six weeks.

First time a guy is suspended six games for one of those microphones picking up a racial, religions, sexual slur, that ends it.

Heard on the radio this morning, that Ryan (the mouth) Clark, and Ike Taylor were listening to "urban/rap" music in the locker room. The "singer" was throwing around the "N" word like nobody's business. Rooney, I guess told them that it was offensive, and proceeded to give them a history leture, and told them to knock it off. The Rooney's mostly, not always but mostly, make wise decisions regarding conduct and personnel of the team. This would be a +1 for team ownership.

The fans should start yelling the offensive words from the stands in unison

Illustrate how stupid the NFL is.
