Re: Do you use decoys

Sometimes I use them and sometimes I don't. Sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. Bought 4 AvianX decoys before last season. Shot a gobbler last year but I can't say the decoys helped.

Re: Pigeons

I know a few guys decoy pigeons in and around the Lancaster County area and do quite well. Like 200+ a day!

Re: MC Goose Hunting Regulations Have Failed

Maybe Andy Dively or someone from the S.R.W.A. can comment on these issues. They have been in pretty tight with the management at Middle Creek for some time now.

Re: Suggest a shotgun! Looking to buy one.

I have a Mossberg 835 and a Benelli Nova. I like them both. I use the 835 for turkey and the Nova mostly for waterfowl. The Remington 870 is a great gun too. It's all just personal choice and which...

Re: 20. Vs 12

Plan on using my wife's 20ga Remington 11-87 youth model some this year. It has an Undertaker choke tube and patters pretty well with Winchester Supreme 5's.

Re: 3" Longbeard. XR they are that good !!

It's a shame that you can't buy factory TSS loads for those of us that don't load our own shells.

Re: lookin for a taxidermist

Scott Lengel is the best I've ever seen in this area. He used to have his own shop but now he works for someone I think in the Myerstown area.

Re: mossberg 835 question

I'm 6'9" and a few hundred pounds and my 835 really beats me up shooting it from a bench. It especially smacks my cheek bone! Shooting at a turkey I don't even know it kicked.

If you get an 835...

Re: mossberg 835 question

I have one of the original 835's. Mine was not ported. Sent it out and had it ported. Love the gun but can't get a good pattern with the factory chokes. So you'll probably have to put an aftermarket...

Re: Mossberg 835 users....

Mine wasn't ported either. I sent it out and had it ported. Didn't seem to make much difference. Still kicks like a dang mule off a bench!

Re: Decoy Set Ups

The last 3 years I've tried many different decoy combinations. Most of the time the turkeys totally ignore whatever combination I use.

Only luck I had recently with decoys was 2 years ago. 4 hens...

Re: Mossberg 835 users....

I'm going to take the 20 to camp. I have an Undertaker choke in it and a bunch of 20ga Winchester magnum #5 loads for it that I have to use up. I'll just decide before I walk out the door in the...

Mossberg 835 users....

What choke/shell combination are you using? What constriction is your choke?

I'm currently shooting the Mossberg Ulti - full turkey choke. I think it's a .695 constriction. I'm not pleased with...

Re: What Are You Shooting???

You might want to try the Hornady Magnum loads? They say they pattern better with an I/C or modified choke. Maybe the Federal Heavyweight loads too with their flight control wads or whatever they're...

Re: do hens gobble

I had a hen gobble at my hen decoy a few years ago. Sounded different that a Tom gobbling. Similar to a jake gobble but not quite. She came in a puffed out and circled my decoy a couple times....

Re: turkey loads

I'm switching to a 20ga Rem 11-87 youth model this year. Have an Undertaker choke and I'm going to pattern 3" Federal Hevyweight 7's.

20 guage users

What gun, choke, shell combination do you use?

I'm switching from a 12ga to a 20ga this year. It's my wife's Remington 11-87 youth model. I put an Undertaker choke tube in it and I'm going to...

Re: 31/2 inch recoil

I'm a big guy, 6'9", and my Mossberg 835 kicks the crap outta me with 3.5" shells patterning it off a bench. I don't feel it when I'm shooting at a gobbler. I'm making the switch this year to a 20ga...

Re: Things you learned from last year

I learned that AvianX decoys are not guaranteed to pull the birds in on a string.
