I noticed a new well being drilled in Somerset County along Rt. 31 just west of the Huckleberry Highway (Rt 160). Anyone know whether this is going into the Marcellus Shale?
This is the well I asked about, and it definitely is going down to the Marcellus Shale. I understand that there are several more pads under development in the county.
there are 2 wells in that raea that are permitted.
1. hillgass
2. fisher
if you go to the web site rlstores.com, it shows the well pads in your county as well as a host of others. i think it cost $18 per yr to subscribe.
when you subscribe it will show you the maps with exact locations
I think I found a better site for permits in Somerset County, and there are over 80 for gas wells. Most seem to be coal bed methane type wells, but since the Hillgas site, there have been five new permits issued. I suspect the new ones may be for Marcellus Shale wells. The photo above is of a well on this list refered to as Placemark 77. Map of gas well permits in Somerset County, PA
