New Documentary Aims to Bring Awareness to Pennsylvania Conservation Issue

A new, Pennsylvania-made documentary aims to shed light on an insect species that has been invading hemlock trees inside Cook Forest.

“Cathedral: The Fight to Save the Ancient Hemlocks of Cook Forest” will be shown for the first time at 8:00 PM on July 28 and 29 at the Sawmill Center for the Arts in Cooksburg.

Produced and funded by Pittsburgh filmmakers David and Melissa Rohm of Wild Excellence Films, the film discusses the attack on Cook Forest by the hemlock woolly adelgid, an invasive insect originating in Asia.

The documentary features interviews with experts from DCNR.

Admission is $15 per person, and proceeds from the film will benefit the Pennsylvania Parks and Forest Foundation that will fund hemlock woolly adelgid treatment and research.
