2 weeks before the Rifle opener and I've yet to see a weather prediction on here..Usually these start about the first of November.
Not that it matters, since they cant even get the next day right.
I'll be the first. Cold about 38 with 6 inches of fresh powder snow.
Well.....looks to be 60 degrees on Saturday for the bear opener, but then colder on Monday. Fingers crossed that we don't get 60 degrees on Monday of buck!!
Yep, Monday the 28th, Warren County, high of 38 with AM snow and sleet, changing to showers later in the day. It will change 12 time between now and then so I am not going to sweat it. I'll be in a blind with one of my kids MYH.
For what it's worth, the long range model (GFS) is showing 30s for nearly all of PA on opening day. And then on Tuesday, hinting at a mixed bag of precip with the same temps. A model 300 hours out is bound to be off to some degree but certainly something to keep an eye on. Gusty openers are no fun and rainy openers might be the worst. Personally crossing my fingers for 45^, overcast and zero wind.
Using State College as the mid-point (high/low):
AccuWeather 47/29 Cloudy
TWC 52/37 Partly Cloudy
Unless it's overcast. Then the increasing daylight could be diminished.
I am of the mindset that these weather guys can't predict yesterday. But, I still check the 10 day. For Sullivan County, they are calling for lows in the 25-28 range and highs around 40. 60% chance of rain and snow showers.
Early forecast for Wilkes-Barre area looks like around 48 for Monday, then close to 60 for Tue & Wed...and wet.
