question, how far back from the edge of the hole should the trap pan be for fox and coyote? also how much sifted dirt should be over trap or how deep should the bed be ?

Re: frustrated trapper

For fox I like to be about 4in. back from the hole with about 1/4 in of dirt on the pan. If you are just after coyote I would be back around 9inches and offset the trap to around 3 oclock. If both are in the area split the difference and go around 6. hope this will help.

FWIW, I use approx 7" back and make sure it's the LOWEST POINT in the surrounding dirt! I sift approx 1/4 +/-.
I also add two "guides". One at the dog, and one at approx 2" in front of the trap.

:-)
