Half of Jobs !!!

In the news

"Machines could replace half of jobs over next 20 years"

Tell me about it !!!
Two jobs I held are long gone. Knew an older hunter some years ago who was a linotype
operator at a newspaper. The jobs are gone. Replaced by a computer. And so is the newspaper.

And so are the local paper outdoor writers. Change!!

Got an inner tube this week I've used as part of a fishing float. Try to find one of them !!
Found it at a company that specializes in off road American vehicles. Of course the tire was
used as front tires in an M3 halftrack of General Patton's WW II weapons. Getting tougher to find.
Now I'm figuring out how to put it in a float tube. Haven't done it in over five years.

I have a bunch of stuff that's been discontinued. But then I started off prartically with a 18
century replica of a flintlock rifle.

Unbelievable to think I still type after all these years. Typing on a portable manual typewriter is still a lot like keying on a desktop computer. When
does that end ?

And here is even worse news..........if machines take over half the jobs, the other half left will be where? The article below might answer that question
notice who holds the highest employment numbers in close to half of the country, no wonder everyone is claiming poverty. You either work in Medicine, education or you're stuck at wally world and education/medicine are the ones most likely to continue being replaced by "machines":

Machines still take people to operate and repair. That's why technology jobs are still expanding so rapidly. We are not really loosing that many jobs, rather the job market is shifting and people are finding it hard to adjust to the new job conditions.

Re: Half of Jobs !!!

Granted this isnt good news but I have to add my .2 cents. The computers cant think for themselves, they need humans to program them in order to complete a task. The job that will be needed in the next 10-20 years is developers/programmers. If I was to talk to a young person today, I would tell them to major in Computer Science/Programming. I'm currently employed, but I am teaching myself how to program in JAVA.

Re: Half of Jobs !!!

Wonder if they will invent a brick and block laying machine ? How about a machine that frames houses ? Electrical and plumbing, hang drywall and finish it, trim work ect...... I think a lot of us are safe from unskilled machinery robots

Re: Half of Jobs !!!

It's pretty crazy what they are doing with artificial intelligence and robots. A lot of really smart people (Steve Wozniak, Hawkings, etc.) are saying it's not looking too good for us humans https://www.huntingpa.com/forums/imag...lies/smile.gif Do a few google searches, and it's not too hard to picture a robot laying bricks or framing a house!!!!

As for the topic, I like it, it's March and you need to talk about something!
