Hello,

We have a Winchester model 1300 12 guage that mostly sits in our gun safe, we won it at a gun bash and you all know how some of your winnings can be. It's nice to win but sometimes you don't really need the gun.

That's how this gun was, we shot it for a little while but now it just sits in the safe. A couple nights ago I decided to take some of our guns apart to clean them.

On this gun, I noticed inside of the breech, there is a really scraped up part where the "long tabs" from the pump have scraped inside the breech from the pump being worked. I'm talking about the long metal parts that the bolt ride on. It is only on one side of the breech too. I don't know if this is something to be concerned about. I checked the long tabs on the fore end and they don't appear to be scraped but the inside of the receiver is all scratched with deep gouges.

I'd rather it didn't do this, as there are some metal shavings that end up floating around in there. Anyone know what can be done about this/ or has anybody had any similar problems?

jim,

The rest of the breech is nicely blued, this area the bluing is all scraped away and there are deep scratches cut into it. I did oil it really well, it seemed pretty dry inside there.

We really hardly ever use this shotgun, if ever anymore.
