so i brought home more deer than expected this season and i ran out of freezer space quick...i had a deer hide and yote hide in there and didnt wanna send them out till after fox and coon season ended incase i got anything else to send..
so to make freezer space, i salted and dried the hides in the garage...it stayed cool enough that i didnt feel they were in danger of damage...after they were good n dry i hung the deer hide over a sheet of ply wood in the garage and hung the yote hide by its nose...
if you cant tell where this is goin yet....
they are hard and dry and i need to get them in a box! im afraid if i force them to bend they are going to crack and rip...they are THAT dry...
is there some way i can rehydrate them so i can roll them up to fit in a box to be shipped to a tannery???
should i call the tannery?
i dont wanna loose these hides...my first yote and the deer hide came of a BIG bodied buck..probably never see a deer hide that size as it'll likely have a rack to go with the body unlike the one i shot..so id like to save them!
thanx alot for any info...
