Hello All:

Can anyone recommend a shoulder holster for this gun. I went to cabelas today but they did not have any that fit well. Mostly looking for the holster for driving bear in swamps.

Thank you.

I have the Safrialand. It is designed to be flatter and contoured to the body. It is a nice holster, well made.

Rmember you get what you pay for.

Mike Barranti is a full time hidestretcher now and he makes some great rigs (www.Barrantileather.com). He has also started a more "economical" line and the best part is you are supporting a fellow sixgunner , a Pa resident (Plum area), and a helluva guy to boot.

You should take your holsters as serious as your gun. Too many folks try to save money and buy a sub par holster...there are better ways to save money!

I had a 8 3/8" 629 and carried it in a Bianchi shoulder rig. My Dad had origionally got it when he bought his 8" Python but didn't like it so he gave it to me.

It is a very nice rig especially since it uses a spring-clip retainment system....You do not have to draw the gun straight up to clear the holster, you simply grab the grip and pull.

Once I scoped it. I bought an Uncle Mikes rig made for a 10" scoped Contender. It worked just fine but having to draw it that far straight up was a pain in the butt. Much slower target acquisition.

Check out the Bianchi....Comfortable, secure, out of the way.....Good leather and very nice work too.

I would avoid the vertical shoulder holsters. Pretty much uncomfortable and awkward to draw from. The first shoulder holster I bought for my Super Redhawk was the vertical model which lead to my preceding opinion.

I quicky made the switch to the UM Bandoleer style holster and have been using that for a number of years. Nice and comfortable while hunting and easy to draw your handgun.
